Well folks, the American Idol Live Tour has started again with the kickoff beginning July 1, 2010 in Auburn Hills, MI. and ending Sept. 16, 2010 in Portland, ME… now ending Aug. 31 in Indianapolis, IN.. You gotta check the dates for current listings.. And a whole lot of exciting stops in between, including two Texas stops. Who will it be this time? Who will win the chance to participate in American Idol Live for the chance of a lifetime?
Background on American Idol Live:
American Idol is one of the most popular reality television shows in America. This is a real time singing competition where singers are invited from all over America. And after lots of singing performances and competitions, one is selected as the winner. The American Idol was inspired from the “Pop Idol”, a similar British television show. The show was started in 2002 by the Fox Network and became their most popular show.
The American Idol Tour begins with primary nationwide auditions and the winners of local competitions get a chance to participate in the final program in Hollywood. The judges of the American Idol Live are (or ‘were’ we should say because he left season 2010) Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson. Pop singer Paula Abdul was one the judges for the first eight seasons. In later series other judges were introduced including Kara DioGuardi and Ellen DeGeneres.
In the primary selection of the American Idol Live Tour, only 100 to 200 singers are selected from all the different cities and among them only 10 to 40 can go to Hollywood. For each season, only ten cities from all over the country are selected and in an effort to be fair, the same city is never visited for three consecutive seasons.
During the actual American Idol show, beside the judges, there is a voting system for the general public where we can select our personal fav singer by telephone call and SMS.
Each week, the participants are required to perform different songs on different themes. And famous singers come to mentor the aspiring stars.
The winners of the American Idol get numerous prizes as well as contract for their own albums. Many American Idol winners and almost winners have gone on to have successful musical careers. Some have even won Grammy’s.
Carrie Underwood won 5 Grammy Awards and 5 American Music Awards. Kelly Clarkson won 2 Grammy and Jennifer Hudson, the 7th place holder of the season 3 won 1 Grammy.
