Aziz Ansari Biography-Early years
Aziz Ansari was born on February 23, 1983 in Columbia, South Carolina. He grew up in South Carolina, but moved to New York to attend New York University.
While he was still in school, he began to do stand-up comedy frequently at theatre. In 2005, he was then considered “10 Funniest People You’ve Never Heard Of” and he and fellow comedians started their own sketch group: Human Giant.
Ansari went on to win the award for “Best Stand-up” in 2006, at the U.S Comedy Art’s festival, thus opening doors for him and his sketch group Human Giants. Human Giants landed their own show on MTV and went on for two seasons. Although they were offered another season, they declined due to other work related priorities.

Human Giants became a chapter in Ansari’s life but it was only the beginning. Once Ansari was finished with Human Giants his career really began to kick off. The comedian took several roles in shows and films, including roles in Judd Apatow movies, whom is known to make some of Hollywood’s renowned films. One role Ansari played was a comedian named Raaaaaaaandy (with 8 A’s) in the movie Funny People. Apatow really liked the character and was able to do some short series to promote the movie on Funnyordie.com.
Ansari played the role of Tom Haverford on NBC’s show Park and Recreation with co-star and funny woman Amy Poehlor. In June, Ansari hosted the MTV Movie Awards and entertained audience by performing some of his alter egos. With the intention of bringing something fresh and original, Ansari will be doing a summer tour based on his personal life experiences. He says “No one else is gonna be talking about my personal experiences.”
