John Mayer is a multiple Grammy winner American rock singer.  He was born on October 16, 1977 in Connecticut, USA.  He studied music in Berklee College of Music of Boston.  Later in 1997 he moved to Atlanta to start his music career.  He started his career in acoustic rock but moved to blues eventually after working with blues masters like Eric Clapton and B.B. King.

As a child, Mayer showed his interest in music. His father gave him a guitar when he was 13 years old and after only two years of lesson, he was able to play in front of public. At the age of nineteen he get himself admitted in the Berklee but left it after only two semesters and went to Atlanta and formed a band with his friend Clay Cook. But this did not go well and they parted to start solo career. Soon John released his first commercial single No Such Thing.

In the year of 2001, John Mayer’s first album Room for Squares was released by Aware Records. The following year Mayer won his first Grammy in the Best Male Pop Vocal Performance category for the song Your Body Is a Wonderland from the album. The second album Heavier Things was released in 2003. For the single Daughters, John received two Grammy awards including the Best Male Pop Vocal Performance and Song of the Year. He released a live album on his tour in Alabama in the same year and another live album on US tour in 2004.

From the year of 2005, Mayer started to play with some of the legendary artists of the blues. Beside Clapton and King, he played with Buddy Guy, John Scofield and Herbie Hancock, the world famous jazz pianist. With Pino Palldino and Steve Jordan, he created the John Mayer trio to play a combination music of blues and rock. This trio was created in 2005 and released a live album in the same year.

Next year his third solo album Continuum was released and the album was a worldwide success. Mayer was nominated in four categories in Grammy award of 2007 and won in two. The song Waiting on the World to Change placed as the third most downloaded song in iTunes store and later used in many occasions. Another track of the album Gravity was called by Mayer as the most important song he ever written. On the year 2009, the latest album of John Mayer was introduced and was appreciated by the critics and the listeners.

Some people might be surprised to know that John Mayer is engaged with many social events besides singing like health care, education, global warming etc.  Also, he is an active writer.
