Robert Plant and the Band of Joy presents a blast-from-the-past experience for classic rock fans both young and old. Experience first-hand the group that set the foundation for one of the most popular rock acts of all time: Led Zeppelin. The Band of Joy was the group formed by Robert Plant and John Bonham before they went on to form Led Zeppelin with other bandmates Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones.

The lineup of the Band of Joy has changed somewhat since the original group performed in the 1960s, with Robert Plant as the only remaining original member – but that doesn’t detract from the incredible skills and talent of the musicians and the spectacle of their performances. The unfortunate early death of John Bonham has meant a new percussionist, Marco Giovino, has stepped in to take up the rhythm of the drums. The band has also expanded since the original lineup, from a five-piece to a six-piece, and the addition of the mercurial Darrell Scott has added a whole new dimension of sound to the act. Scott’s talents extend to a multitude of instruments, including the accordion and banjo. If you love the psychedelic mind-trip explorations of Led Zeppelin, you’ll be blown away by the musical adventures of the modern day Band of Joy.

And remember – this may be one of your last opportunities to see Robert Plant live in Austin. The aging rock star.. OK, so I said it.. is at a stage where he may announce his retirement from live performances any day now. For the sixties children, this is an opportunity to relive those great experimental times when rock and roll was at its purest. For younger generations who have grown up to understand the beauty and power of sixties rock, is passing up the chance to see Robert Plant live really a risk your want to take?  :)
