Groundbreaking for the move began in spring 2009, and the first concert at the Backyard’s new location was good ole TX fav, ZZ Top on April 25, 2010.
Per the Backyard’s website:
‘It is set on 38 acres of beautiful, undisturbed Texas Hill Country only three songs from downtown Austin. It is located one quarter of a mile northwest of the original Backyard location.’ And ‘plentiful on-site parking with over 2500 spaces providing direct access to the venue without having to cross any streets’ ..as fans from the original Backyard remember, we had to often cross over busy Hwy 71 to get from parking to venue.

After treating my date, from Atlanta, to a Backyard Lyle Lovett concert in 1999, he (my date that is) said he was ready to move to Texas. We were married Jan. of 2000. Hey! Was it me or my Texas roots that swayed him?
The Backyard offers an intimate setting where the patrons are able to enjoy the warm Austin weather and attend an evening of splendid music. The crowd is made up of many age groups but the average is over 40.
When The Backyard moved from its original location, there were many disappointed people who wondered if it would ever reopen. This Austin venue had offered a magical evening with live oak trees lining the sides and back of the stage. The bar sold decent beer and above average food. Then to rebuild near Bee Caves sparked a classic comment, “Where is Bee Caves?”
The Backyard is open for nine months during the year and is closed from November through January for shows. No outside food, coolers, bottles or cans can be brought in and no cameras, video or audio equipment allowed. Many customers enjoy looking at the night sky during the concerts.
As a medium sized setting, The Backyard can accommodate touring shows. The reserved seats are directly in front of the stage.
