Survive the ACL Music Festival

ACL Music Festival: How to survive the craziness of Austin City Limits

by Bianca Flores – In October thousands of people will be in Austin for Austin City Limits’ ACL festival. This is one of the greatest music festivals around so you can’t afford to not be ready for everything. There are things you need to bring, things you must remember and things that might get weird, but you’ll be at THE ACL Festival…in Austin. Keep Austin Weird.

ACL Music Festival – “How To”

1. You’re not at home so…
· Get ready for the weather ahead of time. Wear light clothes if you know it’s going to be hot (October in Austin usually still feels like summer).

· Drink water as if it’s summer, you’ll be sitting or standing for hours, hopefully even dancing with the hippies in the mud, so dehydration is the last thing you’re probably looking forward to.

· Hygiene is always important, but it’s not going to meet standards at an ACL Festival. So, bring wet naps, you’ll need them. You’ll be in line for a long, long, long time to use the luxurious port potties.

· Anything that you want to purchase will be over priced, and I mean everything. Water bottles, sodas, beer, food, T-shirts, posters and anything else you may want.

· Bring a poncho or umbrella just in case. Buy either one ahead of time, I tried buying an umbrella the day of the fest and when I got to a store miles away they were all sold out.

2. Arrive on time. Depending on who you want to see and sit all depend on your timing.
· Arrive early to check in. Everyone is trying to get to the same place you are, so be early. No one wants to see anyone crying because they missed their favorite band.

· No matter the time you arrive to the ACL festival put on sunscreen and reapply as time passes.

3. Settling in
· If you don’t mind standing all day, well congrats you’re the fittest human around, but if you do mind bring a folding chair.

· Know where everything is, you’ll be given a map. Read it.

· Do not put your chair in the Chair Free zone that is in front of the stage.

4. Necessities: keep them on you at all times, even if that means a fanny pack. Ok, not really a fanny pack.
· Keep your I.D on you at all times. Don’t expect to get beer based on your looks, it doesn’t work that way.

· Get cash ahead of time and keep it in your pocket, not in the back pack pocket so some drunken guy can easily take it.

· If you do forget to get cash (please do not) there will be ATMs and you can pay a service fee. The ATMS will probably be empty by mid day, so bring all that cash that you think is needed. Keep it in your pocket!

· Water bottles are a must (freeze them overnight). You can bring two factory sealed water bottles, but except for buying more water after be green and bring an a empty aluminum water bottle to refill at the water fountain.

· Know what you can and can’t bring at ACL Festival Prohibited/Allowed Items.

5. Have lot of fun, it’s ok get crazy
· You’ll be seeing some of the biggest bands right now, so go all out. Dance, sing, yell, and maybe even go do all that in the mud.

· With all the craziness that is Austin City Limits, you’ll never know what to expect, so bring extra clothes just in case.

6. Be SAFE!
· Keep in touch with whoever you went to the ACL festival with. Have a meet up spot and plan for just in case ya’ll get parted.

· Say “no” to strangers. If offered beer or drugs just say no, you never know what they did when you weren’t there.

· Stay hydrated, and I don’t mean with beer either. Drink water. Drink Water. Keep drinking water.

Check out our ACL Festival Prep Guide.

So now that you’ve read this, make a plan, get prepared, be safe, and have fun.

ACL Festival – there’s more to Austin City Limits

The ACL Festival is one of the biggest musical events of the year in Austin. The Austin City Limits Festival is a three-day event which will run between the 8th and 10th of October in 2010 in Zilker Park. Be prepared with AustinConcertTicket’s Austin City Limits Preparation Guide

SEARCH for ACL Concert Tickets [ad#Part 1 – Search Button]
[ad#300×250 L-side Margins]The festival features eight stages with a constant variety of acts and an incredible social atmosphere. The 2010 ACL Music Festival features some of the hottest acts currently performing, including the likes of the Kings of Leon, Asleep at the Wheel, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Todd Snider, The Knux, and Phoenix. Supergroup Them Crooked Vultures will also be making an appearance – this band is made up of drummer John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin fame, as well as Dave Grohl from Nirvana and the Foo Fighters and Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age. Seeing these rock legends live on its own is worth the ticket price, but on top of that you get to experience over two dozen other talented acts – and that’s all just on the first day.

The second day features such show-stopping acts as the Dave Matthews Band, Mos Def, The Decemberists and some of that great legend of American rock, Levon Helm. And the quality of performances doesn’t die off on the third day – you’ll be seeing international music superstars like Pearl Jam, Ben Harper and Relentless7, and The Arctic Monkeys to name just a few. All in all, the 2010 festival will be a musical extravaganza not to be missed.

And the festival isn’t just about watching some amazing rock acts – the entire culture of the festival is dedicated to promoting a better future. Despite the size and scale of the event, the planners have made a commitment to ensuring the three-day concert remains totally carbon neutral, so you can enjoy your favorite bands live at an event which is conscious of looking after the environment.

Austin City Limits – Preparation Guide

Austin City Limits Festival
the only Preparation Guide you’ll need

by Bianca Flores

Austin City Limits is coming. Yep, Austin City Limits is right around the Austin TX corner.  Are you ready for the ACL festival?  Do you know what you need? Are you sure? 🙂  If not, is here to help you get prepared to have a good time and be worry free.  If you either paid good money for your Austin City Limits Tickets, or plan to work very hard with your volunteer work for the ACL festival, there are some things you need to remember, so get your notepad out!

Austin City Limits Festival – Most active Austin weekend in October

Austin City Limits attract thousands of people, so try and imagine how hard it would be to get thousands of people to one park just to party for hours, pretty much the best torture. There is NO parking at the park for Austin City Limits and nothing even remotely close. They were at least kind enough to supply free shuttles that are close enough to walk, along with bike racks, a place for your scooters, Austin’s loved city buses, and gratefully a drop off zone and carpooling is always the best way if you’re taking your car. Just be ready to walk and dance all day.

Austin City Limits– Get out there, Tiger.

Imagine getting to ACL and realizing you forgot to bring cash/credit, a camera, sunscreen, water bottles, phone, or etc. You should definitely make a list for what you need and what you need to have fun. Before you put together your “needs” check ACL’s ‘Allowed and Prohibited Items List’, because I would hate to bring something that might be thrown away.

If you already know what bands you’re planning on seeing you should write what stage they’ll be at and what time. Get there early to get a good spot, especially if you’re planning on taking pictures. But be aware that the place is crowded so keep important things in your pocket, and wear your good pockets shorts. You know the ones.

You will need to bring money, you should bring cash. Yes, they have ATMs and service fees, but if you like service fees then go ahead. They will NOT let you bring food, drinks, or snacks, so cash is a must. Bring a chair because you will get tired of standing all day.

Bring your backpack, you’ll need it for your poncho, your water bottle, your extra shirt because that drunk guy next to you might drop his “not even close to last beer” on you, hand sanitizer for when you accidentally touch that drunken guy’s sweaty back when you’re seeing The Strokes, that camera for the pictures you promised all your friends and coworkers, and don’t forget to be positive. Don’t let that drunken sweaty guy get to you and if you’re planning on being him, think twice. The insanity level will be high this year; look forward to it! LOL

Bianca is taking short hiatus from Bianca, we MISS YOU!

Austin City Limits – Expect the unexpected!

Austin City Limits

Where we’ve come to expect the unexpected!

ACL 2010 Dates * Artists * Tickets

By Bianca Flores
Every year, Austin City Limits attracts thousands of people from all over the world to Austin TX for one of the greatest music festivals of all times.   Austin City Limits, or ACL, is one of Austin‘s most famous.. and loved music events.. And sometimes it gets a little crazy.

It’s the cherry-on-top to Austin’s nick name “Live music capital”..  In the 3 short days that ACL rocks our world, it manages to bring together more than 130 bands, on only 8 stages, with all different genres of music… and all kinds of people.   It takes place in Zilker Park with people coming together in their love of music. See ACL 2010 bands.

Austin City Limits is the finest way to open your eyes to a plethora of music styles, as well as see familiar bands that you love. The variety of different types of music that plays is impeccable. For example, this year Muse, The Eagles, The Strokes, M.I.A , and Band of Horsed will be performing. They’re all completely different genre’s, but all incredibly talented.

During the Austin City Limits concerts, our bipolar Texas weather never fails to show up uninvited. One day it’s the hottest day of the week, and on the following days, it might rain cats and dogs. So, a must is poncho and sunscreen. Nobody really wants your umbrella in their face, and you don’t want that red painful skin, do you? Prepare yourself for anything. And please stay hydrated. How depressing to waste your money by passing out, or see yourself featured in the Austin Chronicle, all passed out. 🙂

If you have a coveted 3 Day pass, you’re one of the lucky ones. You’ll see great bands, and I’m sure you’ll also see lots of weird things. Well C’mon, you are in Austin. We didn’t get the bumper sticker ‘Keep Austin Weird’ for nothing! You must always expect the unexpected.

If you can’t get tickets because they’re all sold out or funds are low.. don’t worry. There are always the after parties, plus the bands that play during the festival usually play later on somewhere downtown. As it gets closer to the ACL event, we at AustinConcertTickets, will post about some of the free after parties so you don’t miss out.

Or you can always stay tuned @
